A SORDID TRAGEDY
THE DUNHAM MURDER ' CAMERON ON TRIAL Received March 24, 10.5 p.m. SYDNEY, March 24. At the trial of Robert Cameron on a charge of murdering Ernest Dunham, the Crown case was 1 that the woman Puckeridge quarrelled with Cameron, with whom she had been living, and went to live with Dunham. The shooting was the result of Cameron trying to get Puckeridge to return to him. Cameron, in a statement from the dock, said he was unaware the revolver was loaded. He had no feeling against Dunham, his object being to protect him from Puckeridge. He wanted to got her out of the way as he considered her a public nuisance. A FORTUNATE PRISONER. Received March 24, 11.15 p.b. SYDNEY, March 24. The jury found Cameron guilty of manslaughter of Dunham. The judge commented that they had taken a very merciful view of the case. The offence was very close to murder. He sentenced Cameron to seven years’ penal servitude.
