THE NEW CONVENT CHAPEL
To-morrow, His Grace Archbishop Redwood will formally bless and open tho new chapel at the Convent, commencing at 3 p.m. sharp. No special invitations have been issued, but the Sisters of St. Joseph extend a cor* dial invitation to the public to attend. The occasional address after the ceremony will be delivered by Archbishop Redwood. The new chapel, which adjoins the main building on its western side, is a handsome structure of similar design to the Convent itsplf, and capable of accommodating about 300 persons. It has been substantially built of brick and reinforced concrete. The beautiful marble altar, as also the statuary and Stained glass windows, have been transferred from the old chapel, and the interior of the new building has been completely furnished. The cost of the new building is something over £6000. Inclusive of this sum tVe total cost of the Convent buildings together with the furnishings and educational equipment, comes to over £31,000, and the Sisters of St. Joseph have taken upon themselves the obligation of paying this large sum. This is a big contract for the Sisters, who have no endowments, and to-morrow friends of the x order will have an opportunity of contributing something to help the Sisters to liquidate their huge debt.
