The following saloon passengers per s.s. Port Sydney are leaving Wanganui for England on"the 24th inst. :Mr and Mrs Addison L. Pinnrd and family, Miss B. Williams, and Miss F. Williams. It is reported that the Rev. Papakakura, a well-known vocalist in Opunake, has signed up with the Chautauqua management to tour America and Canada.
Rev. W. Gray Dison, M.A. (Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand) and Mrs. Dixon arrived in I Wanganui yesterday, and are- stay tug lat St. Paul's Manse. Mr and Mrs Oix on are being tendered a welcome in Hi. Paul's Hall this afternoon. Mr. Sid. Swan, eldest son of Mr. G. H. Swan, of Wanganui, who went away as an engineer on the s.s. Indrabarah over seven years ago, is at present i-n a visit to Wanganui. Mr Swan, who is at present an engineer on the Remuera, j has seen a great deal of the world sin<;e ; lef* here. After serving about twelve months in Armstrong's gun works at Home, lie signed on as engineer on cue "of the River Plate steamers for a few j years. When the war broke out, he taw service under the Admiralty, being with Admiral Sturdee's squadron at the Falkland Islands light, and he was also in the North Sea.
