ELECTION OF OFFICERS
THREE SHOWS DECIDED UPON.
The adjourned meeting of the Wanganui Horticultural Society was held last night, when there was a representative attendance, and considerable evidence of enthusiasm.
Apologies for absence were received from a number of enthusiasts who oould not be present, including Dr. P. Marshall, whom it is interesting to nvte was the honorary secretary of tho local society 30 years ago. The election of officers resulted •. — President. Mr W. J. Tread well; johit lion, secretaries, Mrs E. H. Suisted nv.d Mr J._ Robertson; hon. treasurer, Mr H. Duigan; committee, Messrs F- Wa'ker, P. Jackson, W. H. Gibson, RoesJones, R. Bond, Mesd.ames J. M. Gibson, A: Sykes, Misses Marshall vnd K. Roberts; executive ooinmittee;_.3icS'Rfs Jackson, Gibson and Walker.
It was decided that the subsor'tptiuti should be 10s for men and 5s for Ituiies, this to include member's ticket and three free entries. • ■
It was resolved to hold .three Shows annually: (1) Bulb Show, (2) Sweet peas, roses, and carnations, (3) Chrysanthemums.
A number of donations were prpmistd. Mr Treadwell's rose-bowl will be competed for. Messrs Gibson and Paterson are offering a prize, Mrs White will give n special prize for school children's gardens, and Mr Jackson is also offering a 10s. prize for school competition.
A special sweet, pea competition for the various schools is to "be arranged. The seed will be supplied by an anonymous donor, and monetary prizes will T>e given.
Messrs Treadwell and Gibson were •appointed delegates to the Town Planning Conference.
