THE BEARD CASE.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 29.. The Appeal Court continued the hear rag of the application to strike William Gascoyin Beard oft" the solicitors' roll. Mr Gray, for the defence said Beard had acted occasionally as Itangi Kerehoma's solicitor, and knew Ohennels was Rangi's agent and banker, but Beard had not acted generally for either Bangi or Ghennels, and insisted that Xtangi be separately advised before the completion of land transactions. Mr. Grey dealt in detail with the mortgage transactions, contending that these showed that Eangi lost nothing, and that Beard gained' nothing. The fact that Beard and Chennels settled the action _ brought by Rangi was not an admission by Beard of anything fraudulent about the Mangahuna purchase. Ihe action was settled because a Court of Equity would have held that they were trustees for Rangi. The case is "not yet finished.
