ANOTHER REBELLION FRUSTRATED.
IRISH IN GERMAN PAY
NEW TORE, October 28. The secret service has frustrated the second Sinn Fein rebellion which was planned, to occur next Easter, tbe anniversary of last year's bloody Dublin note. German gold was scheduled to play a part, and preliminaries had been mapped out and made ready to be put into operation, when the secret service stepped in and arrested "General" Liam Merlewes, who was one of the leaders el the 1916 outbreak, and Baron yon ReculinghSuann, who,.; was apparently Eernstorff's deeignee to watch" out for Germany's interests in Ireland after Bernstorff had been ousted from the Unitel States.
Canadian authorities, acting on information received from the Secret Service Department, arrested Dr. Patrick "McCartcn upon arrival-at Halifax. McCarton was travelling with a"frou<hii.pnt eeaman's passport. He enjoyed the title of Ambassador of the Irish Republic to the United States. It had been com-n-anly reported that German agents had been busy :'n Ireland attempting to stir up a second outbreak, and that" German cargo submarines had landed machineguns ;:nd ammunition in lonely inlets around the Irish Sea
