N.Z. BUTTER OUTPUT.
WELLINGTON, September 2. Tiie Premier states the probability, is that the Imperial Government will purchase the whole of the New Zealand butter output of t«he coming season. A final reply is not to hand, but from other quarters I gather there is a confident belief that in view of the current' prices of dairy produce, the Imperial authorities will readily pay Is 4d for butter, which is the price tixe producers submitted to them. This arrangement will simplify the control of the local butter prices, as it will be an easy matter to extend the system under which- meat is available in New Zealand at the Imperial schedule rates. Ihe Board of Trade considers twopence a pound reasonable profit for distribution, consequently butter ought to be is 6d in New Zealand during the summer.
