RED CROSS.
VERY SUCCESSFUL APPEAL.
SUM OF £312 REALISED,
A very successful appeal was made yesterday for funds for the Belgian, Serbian and French Red Cross work, with the # result that an amount of £312 was realised.
The weather was cold, but throughout the day there was a large number of people in the streets, and good business was done by the Red Cross workers. At the Red Cross Shop and at stalls in the streets, in charge of ladies, buying was keen and most satisfactory.
A feature of the day was the decorated motor car procession, which was a most spectacular event. A visit was paid to the hospital, where little patriotic flags were distributed, and on the return the Queen's Park Bugje Band joined in and the main streets wei'e traversed.
Art Union tickets found a ready sale and greatly helped to swell the proceeds. •
The results of the various raffles were as follows:
o]>al ring—No. 38, Mrs Cutfield. Red Riding Hood—No. 48, Miss Henderson.
Camisole —No. 19. Miss B. McLean. Doll's Birthday Date (May 19)!— Nearest guess: Mr. Doig (May 20.)
