It is announced that Mr James Pren^ deville, of Eketahuna. has been appointed Crown Prosecutor at Wellington, vice Mr. Meredith.
Lhe death occurred at Christchurc-i on' Monday of Mr George H. Whitcombe, head of the well-known firm of Whitcomue and Tombs, aged 64. The Rev. C. F. Askew, of St. Mark's, Wellington, is at present in Wangauui hi connection with tho great Cathedral. Fund scheme recently inaugurated m the Empire City. . A young Mew Zealander who has made good in America is.Mr Will Hope, who some years agu was a resident of Palmerston. Mr Hope has won an acknowledged position as a cartoonist in the United States, working for many of the leading magazines. He was recently selected to fill the place temporarily of Mr McCutcheon, who is in the front rank of American black and white artistes
