The latest casualty list includes tto* name of Lieut. A. Pi Kaipara, killed in action. A decade ago he was regarded as one of tb.3 most brilliant footballers in the Dominion. He was a Poverty Bay and North Island representative, and a member of the 1910 Native team, that toured Australia-.
The Captain W. H. McLean, who is mentioned in the despatch ffom the N.Z. Official War Correspondent, published this morning, as having been awarded the Military Cross, is in all. probability an old Wanganui boy, and, in his day. one of the finest lliigby players of his day. At the time of his enlistment Mr McLean was chief assistant on the staff of the Feildinj* School. He is a brother of Mr J. G. McLean, of Durie Hill.
