FOUR MEN INJURED

A DANGEROUS ROAD,

The Turakina Hill, close to the notorious Devil's Elbow, was the seem of a serious accident to a motoring party on Fiiday evening, the occupants of the car being o . Cullinane, E. Corliss, J. Hair, and B.,Hair. At the time of the accident th^ party was on its way to Wanganui. At a dangerous part of the road, where tha mishap occurred, the car went over the bank, and fell about sixty feet into the gully after turning several somersaults. Mr G. Phillips, accompanied by a friend, happened to motor along the ■' road shortly after, a,nd his attention was attracted ftv a light at the bottom of the gully, the electric light of the dam- . aged car being still burning. On making an investigation Mr Phillips found., \ the four men being unconscious, and after rendering first aid,he proeceeded to Wanganui to arrange for another car to be sent out from town. Shortly aftei .->' another motoring party, which includ- / ed Messrs George Swan and C. Suistei, -* on their way, to a concert at Turakina, \ came on the scene, and they also ren--dered every possible assistance.

The four sufferers were brought to Wanganui and attended to by Dr. Wall. Mr Cullinane and Mr Hair and his son were found to be severely bruised. Corliss sustained a broken bone in the thigh.

On Friday a motor car collision occurred at Aramoho. Both cars were considerably damaged, and one of tho passengers —a !A-aori—got a severe shaking.
