The steamer Wanaka which, arrived from Timaru on Saturday afternoon, em'ounternd a terrific north-westerly sale off Cnne Palliser on Thursday morning. The sea was running mountains high, and a huge wave broke Oi. board amidships at G a.m.. wrecking the bridge, the ventilators, smashing No. d lifeboat, and carrying tMtvay the vegetable locker. Tt stow in tha wheelhouse door and shifted the lifehous out of tho chocks on the port side.
