FATHER'S EVIDENCE
The first witness was William Urquhart, joiner, of Wellington, ancMather of the male deceased. His, son was 28 ! years of age, and on Saturday night last he told witness that he had to come j, to Marton to deliver up some letters ari£l receive some in exchange. He tried to j dissuade his son from coming, but the latter seemed very determined. He was well aware that the two victims of the tragedy had been intimate friends. His ' son had informed her that he was sendI ing the letters by a chum named Mc- ! Gaul, but "she would get a shock when she ifound who did arrive." During the past fortnight his son had ibeen very much worried, and complained of inability to sleep. He had alleged that tho cause of the worry was the lady at Marton, and his wife at Wellington.
