ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The annual general meeting of the Wnnfrnnui Football Assoeiatiiori was lield in Christ Church Schoolroom las*-, evening. Mr C. E. Mackay presided ever a fairly large meeting. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and confirmed, and showed the Association to be in a healthy state, both as regards membership and funds'. The following officers were electee! for the ensuing season: Patron, C. E. Mackay: "President, W. M. Davidffe: vice-presidents, Messrs M. Russ*ll, J. A. Jacob, T. T. Muir, Jas. Wilson, J. Lam-be, T. H. Nixon, W. G. Herd. E. WalpoLe, J. G. Swan. C. M. Oresswell, P. Lewis. G. M. Gardiner, W. Corby, J. A. Findlay; secretary and treasurer, C. Aitken :' delegate to N.Z.F.A., Afr E. C. Hayton.
In presenting the Senior Cup to the winners of lapK season's .competition, the Eastbrook Club, the. chairman complimented them unon winning such a valuable troohv.
A feature of the meetine: was the presentation to the Football Association of a. handsome shield for league competition. Tn making 'the presentation, or behalf of a number of old Association football players, Mr Thvidgo'sa.id that he hoped it would* bo the means of fostering greater interestin the Association y;ame, and it was for this purpose that the shield had been obtained. In replying, the chairman thanked thr» donors sincerely for their handsome .gift, and expressed the belief that the players generally would come fonvard and show their anpreciation of the thoughtful ness of the donors by making the competition a harrlnmscht and keen one. The shield, w*hich was manufactured Poeitfly byMessrs Drew, is a fine specimen of the silversmith's work, bearing a-- centreplate with an excellent engraving of an -As ociation game in progress, "ancl «ilso a lai-ge amount of ornamental desi^ns representative of the game. The slrield is in+endfd for yearly competition, ond should serve .splendidly for that purposs.
