SERIOUS DECREASE IN EXPORTS

SYDNEY, July 5. Mr Sutton, New South Wales' commercial agent, in the East, in his annual report, says that Japan is evidently passing through a serious phase in its history. The exports last year were £5,41(5,000 le.c.s than in the preceding year, and tho imports £5,820,000 less. It is tho first tinie since 1868 that the exports have shown 6uch a great falling off.
