OHAKUNE NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
An election will be held on the 15th instant to fill a vacancy on the Town Board. The of several probable candidates arebeing already mentioned.
To-day the wholesale liquor merchants opened, and it is reported that they are doing well, supplying orders. There is no indication whatever of drunkenness, and it is to be hoped that it will always continue so.
We understand that the Roads Department offices are to be shifted from Raetihi to Ohakune. This should prove beneficial on account of the central position of Ohakune.
Tho mads through Dobbs estate have been completed, and this will open up some splendid land for residential and other purposes.
We understand that Mr Nelson has taken over the boardinghouse known as "Warkton Villa." We wish Mr Nelson success in his venture.
