FLOODS AT AUCKLAND
Per Press Association
AUCKLAND, July 12. Ono of the heaviest downpours that have been experienced in Auckland for sorno time fell this morning. The reclaimed land near the water front beoomo flooded, and the lower part of Queen street resembled a snlall river. The water was quite a foot deep in places, and while the rain lasted it rushed down the street with great force, spreading over the footpaths and flooding a large number of cellars. The whole of the Queen street wharf was also flooded and the water poured over tho sides. The liberty men going off to H.M.S. Challenger had to wade through tho water with their hoots slung over their shoulders. The damage was comr paratively small, as the rain did not la&t long. : ;
