A SUGGESTION.
To thc Editor.
Sir, — In leading your mo^t vuiuablo paper, I find that preparation i have been made in the towns to announce vhe relief of Mafeking, which is daily expect ?d and urgently l-jokcd forward to by ihe people. Now, considering how tbe people of NewZealand have gallantly sent their sons and their money for the cause of freedom, I think that the Government should proclaim it a public holiday, especially for tbeir servants, so that all can join in with the rejoicing. I am sure an extra lot of work must have been thrown on civil servants of late. Trusting somo abler pen than mine will tako this up, and influential men join in forwarding this proposal,— l am, etc., ONLY A FARMER.
