RANGITIKEI NOTES.

■ » — — (From Our Own Correspondent.) ' MARTON, Monday. Mr John Stevens is having veiy successful meetings in the southern end of the electorate, and his supporters are even more sanguine than they were at the last election. The arrangements for the forthcoming Marton Flower and Rose Show, which is to be held in conjunction witji the Wesleyan Fancy Fair on the Ist aiid 2nd of next month, are now very advanced. There will be a number of attractions and novelties. Among others a handsome kiosk will be erected, where visitors can be supplied with n first-class cup of tea. The Empire Tea Company of Wellington have', through their Wanganui agency, handsomely offered to supply their famous "Crescent 'Brand" tea, also all the sugar required in this department, free of cost. The patrons of the Show and Fair can therefore rely on getting a cup of .the very best tea, which .will be served 'by ii bevy of young ladies in a beautifully-furnished Oriental kiosk. At the special meeting of the Borough Council to-day, called for the purpose of, selecting a representative on the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, nothing definite was done, through there being, no quorum present; but the appointment was left in the hands of the Mayor.
