The Canterbury Employers' Association passed the following motion in regard to the Shop Hours Bill— "That the act at present in operation fully meets the requirements of the shops and shop assistants, that therefore fresh legislation in this direction is unnecessary, and that every centre should bo left as ai present to fix its own day." The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Bill was considered, and the Association passed a resolution protesting against compulsory arbitration, though it was in favour of arbitration so long as it was optional. j
