TRICES OF BUTCHERS' MEAT.
TO- THE EDITOR. • Sib, — Your correspondent, "Cold Veal," seems to wish to intentionally mislead the public by stating that " heads of families "will not know till the end of the present month that prices of butchers' meat have greatly increased." As a matter of fact prices of meat have not been increased to the general public for the last six month*, the.only alteration made by tho butchers in their tnriCE being that the hotel and, boarding-housekeepers who have hitherto, had. the picked joints; &c, at considerably less- than- the the general public, have aow been.placed on a move equal footing .with ' private consumers, being in fact chargod the same prices- as the general, public, subject to a small discount, anfi the general public must obviously benefit rather than lose by the alteration.— l am, &c.\ Verxtas.
