THE RACE BET WEE N HANLAN AND GAUDAUR.
.» (BPKOIA.Ii TO PRESS ASSOCIATION.) London, July 26 The result of the race between Han* lan and Gaudaur is regarded with suspicion in aquatic circles both in Enpland and America. Gaudaur kept a long way out of his course, and when half over the distance the spectators called out to him to kder his proper course. He took no heed of their warnings, and finished a quarter of a mile out, but nearly level with Hanlan. The umpire disqualified Gaudaur, whose backer asked what instructions had been given The defeated oarsman declined to make any statement, but said the race was lost because the condition of "be water was all in favour of Hnnlnn.
