THE LITHGOW COLLIERY ON FIRE.
THREE MEN SUFFOCATED.
(reutrr's telegrams.) (by elbcteic telegp.aph— copyright.) (Received February 15, 1 30 p.m.) Sydney, February 15. The Lithgow colliery has taken fire, and three men are known to be in the workings. The whole place is now in a mass of smoke. Every effi.-rfc is being made to rescue those who are down, but ifc is feared iheir exertions will prove fruitless. (deceived February 15, 10 p.m.) Further telegrams are to hand f romLith* gow, relative to the outbreak of fire in one of the coal mines near the township. The exertions made to rescue the mine manager and two miners, who were unahle to escape, resulted in recovering the mine mauager ia a conscious state. The other two men were brought up dead, apparently suffocated.
