PATRIOTIC FUND

ZONE ACTIVITIES. TE ORE ORE CARD PARTY. A very successful card party was held in the Te Ore Ore School on Saturday night in aid of zone 16’s funds. The chief prizes were won by Mrs. Brunton and Mr. Nitz, and the consolation prizes by Mrs. Wrigley and H. Lee. Raffles were won as follows: Box of apples, Mrs. Gordon Lee; halfdozen cups and saucers, Miss J. McKenzie, Puke Te; box of groceries (given by Mrs. Deans), D. Crawford; mystery parcel, Mr. Gordon Lee; box of mixed fruit, ’Mrs. Gordon Lee. Zone 5 would like all residents of Essex Street and Lower Cornwall Street to attend a meeting to be held in the Soldiers’ Club, Essex Street, on Friday next, at 2.30 p.m. Owing to the near approach of the zone shop day, it is hoped that there will be a large attendance at this meeting. The shop tomorrow will be held by zone 11 (Church Street, Bannister Street, etc.). The windows have, as usual, been carefully examined by the public during the past few days, and excellent business has been done at the raffle table. There are some very attractive children’s clothes and toys on sale this week. The shop will be open at the usual hour of 10 a.m.
