POLICE TRANSFERS
SENIOR SERGEANT A. H, BARNES TAKES UP DUTY. PREDECESSOR FAREWELLED. Senior Sergeant A. H. Barnes has taken up duty at the Masterton Police Station, in succession to Senior Sergeant C. Murphy, who has been transferred to Wellington. Senior Sergeant Barnes, lor the past two years has been stationed in Wellington and previously was at Taihape for a short period. As a sergeant, he was stationed for three years at Greymouth and for a similar period at Christchurch. Earlier, he was a constable in Auckland, the Waikato, r Gisborne and the Hawke’s Bay district. Senior Sergeant Murphy was farewelled yesterday afternoon by members of the Wairarapa police force, Justices of the Peace and members of the Masterton Court staff.
Constable A. Gregor, of Greytown, who presented a hanging mirror to Senior Sergeant Murphy and Mrs Murphy, referred to the happy relations that had existed between members of the force in the district and the Senior Sergeant. All extended to him their best wishes for the future. Messrs L. J. Taylor and R. Ktahagen J’s.P., J. R. Fairbairn (on behalf of the Court staff), and W. White endorsed Constable Gregor’s remarks. Senior Sergeant Murphy acknowledged the sentiments expressed and thanked all for their gift.
