PACIFIC POLICY
NEW ZEALAND DELEGATION IN SYDNEY CONFERENCE AT CANBERRA. OPENING ON MONDAY. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) SYDNEY, January 13. The New Zealand Ministerial delegation, headed by Mr Fraser, which will discuss post-war problems in the Pacific with the Commonwealth Government, will arrive in Sydney today. The delegation will be met by the Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Evatt, the Premier of New South Wales, Mr McKell, and other Commonwealth and State Ministers, as well as Mr C. A. Berendsen, New Zealand High Commissioner. The party will remain in Sydney till Saturday. A conference with the Australian Government will begin at Canberra on Monday. Subjects for discussion include the future policies of Australia and New Zealand in relation to the South-West and South Pacific regions, post-war security zones, including the government of islands taken from the Japanese, the welfare of native peoples, communications, and closer collaboration and trade relations between the two countries. The Australian Labour Party will hold a special meeting in Canberra to coincide with the visit of the New Zealand delegation, and the formation of a British Empire Labour Party will be discussed. The meeting will also consider the sending of a joint deputation to an Imperial Labour Conference which the British Labour Paity is anxious to convene to discuss postwar problems.
