WAGE INCREASES
DEMANDED BY BRITISH ENGINEERS. ESTIMATED COST OF £100,000,000. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.10 p.m.) LONDON, June 17. The conference of the Amalgamated Engineering Union, which has a membership of 650,000, resolved to make immediate application for an advance of eleven shillings on the basic, wage rate, and an increase of one-third in payments made in lieu of piece rates. The conference will also apply for the restoration of conditions obtaining before June, 1931. The wage claims are estimated to cost at least £100,000,000 annually.
