The National Savings “money-ball” has now been placed in position outside the local Post Office, and an energetic committee is working to ensure that the “ball” reaches the top of the pole each week. Eketahuna is asked to lend £ll5 weekly on a population basis and the people of this district will no doubt see that this quota is reached each week. All residents who are served by mail from the Eketahuna Post Office are included in the population basis. Last week’s total was nearly £9O and it is to be hoped that all those persons who have not yet opened a National Savings account will do so and ensure that the “ball” is at the top of the pole and the flag flying, denoting that the citizens of Eketahuna are doing their utmost in the war effort.
