GOLF CLUB ECLECTIC COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The eclectic competitions held by the local Golf Club resulted as follows: — Men: N. Hume, 1; J. Riwai, 2. Ladies: Mrs Herangi, 1; Mrs G. Sutherland, 2. The ladies’ championship was won by Mrs Herangi with Mrs Tikao run-ner-up. Whitebait Season Closed. The whitebait season terminated at the weekend. Shearing Held Up. The weather for shearing in this district has been most unsatisfactory. Intermittent rain has fallen since Friday and shearing operations have been again held up. North-Westerly Gale. For the first time within the past two months there was no rain on a Friday, but instead a fierce north-west-erly gale has been raging ever since and has done a good deal of damage to orchards. Personal Items. Mr R. Te Whaiti has entered hospital for treatment. Constable Conway Mclntosh, of Rotorua, is spending his annual leave with his parents. Miss Joan Lovegrove, Khandallah, (■pent the weekend with her parents. Mrs Remana has returned to her home in Wanganui. c Miss N. McDougall, who has been visiting Christchurch, has returned home.
