BOROUGH COUNCIL MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Featherston Borough Council the bank balances were reported as follows:— District Fund a/c, cr., '£756 5s 6d; Cemetery a/c-.. cr., £9l Is 8d; Domain a A cr, £l3 Is 9d; Water Supply Loan, 1936, a/c, cr., £42 16s 3d; Mayor’s Relief Fund a/c., cr, £75 14s 9d; Library a/c, cr, £46 Is Id. Mr J. O'Donoghue wrote offering a price for sheets of galvanised iron. The matter was referred to the Buildings Committee. The Tennis Club wrote asking the Council to repair the asphalt haid court. It was resolved that the courts be recoated. The manager of the Cosy Theatre was allowed to screen pictures on Christmas night. The Labour Department wrote in regard to the short payment of wages to an employee. It was reported that an adjustment had been made and the Labour Department advised accordingly. The Mayor, Mr J. W. Card, was appointed delegate to attend the Municipal Conference in March, 1942, at Nelson. Mr A. W. Higginson's tender was accepted for repairs and painting to the Anzac Cottage.
