INCREASE IN MASTERTON ACCOUNTS PROGRESS REPORT ON LOCAL CAMPAIGN. MONEY BALL APPROACHING HALF WAY. “The substantial increase in the number of new accounts opened at the Masterton Post Office since the commencement of the National Savings quota campaign is encouraging,” observed Mr E. H. Nicholson, local organiser and a member of the Masterton National Savings committee, in reporting this morning on the progress of the campaign. Mr Nicholson said that the public was taking a keen interest in the campaign and the definite upward trend in the number of new accounts was most encouraging to the committee. Refer-, ring to the money ball on the Post Of-' five flag pole, he said that it had reached £lOO short of half-way, which meant that £292 had been reached out of the town’s quota of £784. When th* quota had been reached a pennant would be broken out on the pole. Commenting on the amount attained, he said that the amount was not very satisfactory although it was not expected that more progress would be made next week when the campaign was fully under way.
