TRUCKING YARDS
AT MASTERTON RAILWAY STATION IMPROVED WATER SUPPLY TO BE PROVIDED. MAKING THOROUGH CLEANSING POSSIBLE. With reference to complaints regarding conditions in the stock trucking yards at the Masterton Railway Station, the member for Masterton (Mr J. Robertson' has received the following letter from the Acting-Minister of Railways (Mr W. Nash):— "For some years complaints have been received by the Railways Department regarding the insanitary state of the stock yards at Masterton. It has been found that it is impossible to sweep the yards clean and in dry weather manure dust is blown about to the annoyance of the business firms in the vicinity. It appears that the water supply serving the drinking troughs in the yards is not of sufficient pressure to enable it to be used satisfactorily for cleaning purposes, and in order that the paved yards may be kept in a sanitary condition authority has now been given for an improved water supply to be provided.”
