MOVE BY ITALIANS
ADVANCE INTO BRITISH SOMALILAND THREE COLUMNS OPERATING. RESISTANCE ORGANISED. A communique issued by the British military authorities in Cairo and transmitted by Daventry states that the Italians began an advance into British Somaliland last Sunday. The Italians are operating in three columns. The British land forces are organised to resist this advance. Presumably all three Italian columns came from Abyssinia.
READY FOR ACTION BRITISH LAND AND AIR FORCES. (Received This Day. 9.50 a.m). CAIRO, August 6. A British Middle East Command communique states that invasion of British Somaliland began on Sunday. Three enemy columns are advancing towards Oadweina, Hargeisa and Oargara. British land and air forces have been organised to resist the advances, despite the collapse of French Somaliland.
