OCTOBER ELECTION
EXPECTED IN AUSTRALIA MEETINGS OF PARTIES. LABOUR REJECTS OFFER OF CABINET SEATS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) CANBERRA, August 6. Pre-sessional meetings of all political parties in Canberra today opposed the suggestion to extend the life of the Federal Parliament and, according to the “Sun” correspondent, the Government will make no attempt to seek sanction to that course. It is understood that a general election will be held in October, in the absence of a national emergency. The Federal Labour Party rejected the offer of the Prime Minister, Mr Menzies, to include Labour representatives in the Cabinet.
