CLEARING SALE. DAIRY COWS IN DEMAND. ■ I Messrs Dalgety and Co.. Ltd., report as follows on a clearing sale held at Tauherenikau yesterday on account of Mr J. Brydon. who has sold his farm and is leaving the district; —There was a large and representative attendance, and competition throughout was keen. A total clearance was effected under, the hammer, and the sale must be considered as highly satisfactory. The ewes, which were running with Southdown rams, met with a good sale, and sold in run-outs lo suit purchasers, realising 14s lOd. 15s 3d. 15s (id and 17s 3d. B.f. lambs made 14s 6d. The cattle were not in good condition. A line of 21-year Shorthorn Hereford cross steers made £3 18s, but dairy cows met with a spirited sale. Any cows close to profit made up to £9, late spring calving calves £4 ss. store cows £2 10s. There was quite a demand for good horses, hacks selling well, and aged draughts making late sale rates. A thoroughbred four-year mare made 23gns, and aged thoroughbred brood mare. 20gns. and a mare with a foal at foot, £B. A quantity of sundries were also offered, and these made good, late sale rates: —Saw bench. £lO. engine £7. hay 6s per bale, sprayer £3 12s (id. flame thrower £6 17s 6d. saddle £5. sledge £6. fowls 4s to ss. At the conclusion of Mi' Brydon's sale, outside entries of horses were offered on account of Mr G. E. Allen, and these commanded good competition. One hall-draught gelding, broken to all work made £lB. after s])irited competition, and a half-draught mare, broken to chains, made £l2 10s. The entries of horses and implements offered on account of Mr C. J. Nix were also keenly competed for. an aged draught gelding on his account making £l6. A double-furrow plough realised £l2 10s, and a quantity of harness and sundries made good clearing sale rates.
