The Coming Election.

To the Editor of the Standard.

Bib,—Allow me through the columns of your paper to express my disapproval and that of many others of what I call an impertinence towards ns Qreytown people. A certain purveyor of public intelligence from our neighboring town has since the election cry rose up in the Wairarapa, continually made his appearance here, not for the purpose of picking up general news lor the benefit of the public, but as a political mentor and " oh. server,” and instead of exercising what little intelligence he possesses to provide some wholesome news for ns, be seems to be seized with the Ferret mania. In the street and at public house bars he ia constantly preaching destruction on this animal, and is trying to show how much better the country progressed when “ the Babbit ” was in power. New, sir, the yarns of this creature may go down with a certain class very well over a pint of beer, especially if be pays for it, but to any sensible thinking person they are utterly lost. Sorry I am to tell this fellow that his absurd bosh and demented ravings do not go down with us, even supposing that his own townspeople take them for gospel. I am truly grieved to tell yon that worse animals than Ferrets exist in New Zealand, and that unfortunately in this district there has been Imported at least one animal commonly called, net the American, but the New Zealand slmnk. I am, Ac., Mosas & Co. Qreytown, 16th Inly, 1887.
