The Post re Mr Bunny.
To tk* Editor of tht Standard.
Bib,—ln a recent issue of the Pott I noticed some remarks made with reference to yonrself which I do not think were calculated to raise the character of that Journal in the public estimation, for trnth and fair play, and was glad to see that yon took it to task for the same.
I also noticed that the Post was at a loss to understand why Ur Bnnny lost his seat for Wairarapa in the House of Bspresentalives. Ont of pity for the apparent dullness of comprehension of the proprietors of that journal I will endeavor (withyour permission) to enlighten them through your columns. I take it, Mr Editor, that the primary reason was, that Mr Bnnny had, through his ntter selfishness, want of sell-respect, insincerity, hollowness, and infidelity to parties, completely lost the confidence and sympathy of his constituents, and I think it will take more than the persuasive powers of the Editor of the Post to induce the electors of the Wairarapa to so completely ignore their interests as to return a mau of the Bnnny stamp again. No, Sir, the electors of the Wairarapa have been too well served during the last sit years to return a man with the interests of a certain 11 rodent" for selfpreservation so strongly developed and perfected by frequent practice. Sir, the electors of the Wairarapa do not want the “ tried professional politician ” to represent them, who is for ever sitting on a rail to see where the fattest Boyal Commission is sticking oat and whom they have tried only too often, and I believe that the result of the polling day will be that the intelligent electors of the Wairarapa will again relegate Mr Bunny to that privacy which be has so long vaiuly chafed against. I am, 40.. A Fbatsbbston Elector.
