SENIOR CUP-MASTERTON v GARTER* TON. The first beat for the senior cup oame off last Saturday at Masterton betwsen the above clubs, and resulted, not surprisingly, in Uia defeat of the Carterton team by throe tries (three points) to one try (one point). Fairbrother captained Carterton and W. Pstry Masterton, the former kicking off. Carterton had the lightest team, Besides playing on* man short; they also had four or five of their best men away. In the first spell Carterton played well together, hut the Masterton forwards were fat 100 heavy, and consequently had the beet of the scrimmages, the ground being very mnddy and slippery. Baumber, by some good following np, managed to get the first and only try lor Carterton. Beilina# made a grand shot for goal, the ball bitting the bar and bouncing back. This was ths only score made in the first spell. In tbs second spell the Masterton forwards completely run over their forwards, and obtained three triee. Cox, Masterton, had a maul with two of his opponents, but he managed to get the ball on the ground. C. Perry took the kicks at goal, but did not inersass the score. Owing to the ball touching tbs spectators Masterton were not allowed two tries obtained by Frank Felling and Welch. Fsirbrother, U saber, A. Moore, Lnoena, Welch, and Nicholson played well for Carterton ; while the best for Masterton were Roydbouse, J. and W. Perry, Whatman, Cox, and Welch. Baumber, fietbune, and Kemble played splendidly for Carterton ; so also did C. Perry, and Hounslow lor Masterton. Owing to the late start it was nearly dark when play Stopped. Hounslow sprained his ankls shout five minutes before time.

JUNIOR COP-TE ORE ORE v CARTER. TON SECOND FIFTEEN. These teams played at Carterton on Satnrday (or the janior cup, and the Native team beat Carterton by nine point* to nil. The match was rather a one-aided affair. The native team were much too heavy lot their opponent* and carried matter* very much their own way. Juat before time waa called the Te Ore Ore men had aoored three goal* to nil. The Carterton lade appeared to be rather ignorant of the game and allowed the visitor* to take advantage of the fact.
