SPORTING.
At a meeting held last week at Carterton of the Wairarapa Jockey Club the following gentlemen were present Messrs N. Grace (chairman), Jas Maeara, B. P. Tanored, Hugh Beet ham, T, Grace, C.' J, Vallance, B. Kimberley, and E. W, Dorset. After the minutes of the previous meeting had been read and confirmed, Mr Bidwill gave notice that at the next meeting be would move that rule 8 be altered to read, “ Not less than seven, and not more than twelve." Mr Hugh Beetham also gave notice that he would move the following motion, which was seconded by Mr B. P. Tanored;— 1 " That anyone wishing to become a member of the Wairarapa Jockey Club shall not be liable, if elected, for the present debt of the club." This club, which is the oldest racing club in the Wellington province, at present Las outstanding liabilities, amounting over £SOO, which includes stakes unpaid, Ac,, and a bank overdraft of £2OO. Thirty members have signified their intern, tion of guaranteeing the sum owing, which will at once be raised, and all claims will be paid in full, so that the club can start again on a new footing, which is a very satisfactory solution of the difficulty.
