Education Board.
A meeting of the Board of Education was held on Wednesday morning. The Board agreed to recognise the existence of an aided school at Branoepeth. A grant ol £5 was made to the Waihenga Committee for the erection ol a shelter shed. A application from Belvedere lor a teacher’s residence, and another from Kaitoke, lot a shelter shed, were indefinitely deferred. Miss Bagge was appointed pupil teacher at Masterton. A bonus of £lO was granted to Mr A. Feist, ol the Fernridge School. The question of the purchase of a site for a second school fur Mastertou was deferred for a month. The matter of the erection of a new school at Pahiatua was postponed until another meeting. Tenders were opened for the proposed additions to the Carterton School, but the work was found to be too costly to justify such an expenditure. The matter of repairing the master’s residence was left in the bunds ol Messrs Buchanan and Bnnny. The application of Mr Lee, Inspector of Schools, for leave of absence was considered in committee, and Mr Lee was granted six months’ leave without allowances.
