The Earl of Aberdeen.
The Right Hon. John Campbell Hamilton Gordon, seventh Earl of Aberdeen in the peerage of Scotland, and Viswuat Gordon in the peer'go of the United Kingdom, who is now on a visit to Wellington, was born 3rd August, 1847. In 1803, he was appointed by Mr Gladstone Lord-Lieu-tenant of Ireland, with th? mission 0 C carrying out th« Rule policy of the Government. In this rapacity he was immensely popular in Ireland, and the scene in Hublin on the ocea sion of the “ leave-taking.” after the fall of the Gladstone Cabinet, is said io have been such as has never been witnessed there before, at least since 'he days of O'Connell. Lord Aberdeen is a member of many Protestants i rligious societies, at whoso meetings ie frequently presides. He is married o a daughter of the first Lord Tweed- I mouth (Majuribauks), 1
