MASTEBTON STABS v. GHETTOWN WANDEBEBS. A match between the above teams took place on the Qreytown Reserve last Saturday, and resulted in an easy victory for Greytown by three goals and one try to love. The match was very hardly contested, but the Greytown forwards were too heavy, while the Stars were playing one man short. Mr Igguldon for the Stars, and Mr Webster for Wanderers, acted as umpires ; Mr Maguire was referee. J. Roydbouse, late of Greytown, played for the Stars. Very soon after the start Roydhouse, by a smart bit of following up, got the ball and was past everybody on the Greytown side except Sep Tnlly, who put him out of bounds near the half way flag. By a smart bit of passing between A. and G. Udy, captain, the latter got over the line, and drew first blood for Greytown. The captain took the kick, and the ball went over the bar] the angle was rattier difficult. C. Beard got over the line with the ball a few minutes after the first try, and secured the second try for Qreytown. The angle was rather difficult, and E. Udy made a fine kick at goal, the ball only going wide by about a yard. The third try was got by Connolly, who had a maul with two of the Stars, but Connolly got the ban on the ground, and E. Udy placed another goal. When time was called the score stood—Greytown, 2 goals 1 try ; Stars, nil. In the second spell the game was more oven, but the Stars were overweighted, although playing a hard and desperate game, the most noticeable being Emmett (captain), E. and J. Felling. Watson, Hawke, Thompson, H. Ferry, and Welch. The Stars time after time took the ball through to the Greytown fall back, very near scoring sometimes. The last try for Greytown was got by E. Udy, who again kicked a goal. J. Byan made a good run, but D'Arcy tbe Star full back, stopped him. Nothing of any note occurred till time was called. For the Stars, C. Perry, Bojdhouse and D'Arcy played first rate, but never got much of a show, (he Greytown forwards getting to them as soon as the ball, Tbe Stars have a fine first team, and again 't a team of their own oalibte would make things very lively. For Greytown tbe Representative men, C. Beard, E. Udy, J. Beard and G. Humphries played a dashing game, so also did Connolly and Ryan. The backs played well lor Greytown, the most noticeable being the Tullys W., S., and 11., A. Beard, and MoMasler. All Udy, though a very good game, seemed altogether out of last year's form.
