Wairarapa Butter.
To the Editor of the Standard,
Sir, —“ Butter Worker ” has found fault with your statement that the storekeepers, or some of them, are to blame for sending bad butter to Wellington. As a small farmer 1 say you are correct, for I know it from shopkeepers i:i Wellington. But what do I find in “ Bmter Worker’s ” letter ? Why, blame thrown upon the dairy, men for sending in bad butter to him. He says “ If dairy farmers will make good butter the storekeepers will keep it good.” It is this keeping of our produce that works the mischief. He says, in addition, “The fault lies with the producer.” I say it does not as a rule. That there are inferior butter makers it is true, but many of us try our best to turn out a good article, and I hope we shall soon initiate a movement to get our produce recognised as it ought to be. I am, &c , Butter Maker.
