Grand total 381 Greytown won by 94 points.
The Featherston Volunteers mustered for inspection on Monday night ; there were 40 on parade. The companies in the Wairarapa ate now endeavouring to outvie each other in good musters and ellioieucy. The Thorndon Kifles tired a friendly match with the Featherston Hi lies at Featherston on Monday. The country corps won by 66 points, the scores being 416 and 330 respectively. Seven shots were tired at 200, 300 and 500 yards. Color Sergeant Clark (Thorndon) 57, Sergeant Fry (Featherston) 57, were the highest scorers. The Thorndon Bifle team were met at the station by Color- Sergeant Holder, who apologised for the unavoidable absence of Captain Donald, and after a very enjoyable day’s shooting, returned to town, highly delighted with the way they were treated by the Featherston corps. Major-General Whitmore inspects the Wairarapa Volunteers at an early date. The Papawai natives meet for drill at 5 p.m. tomorrow.
