MORRISON'S BUSH v. KAIWAIWAL A cricket match was played in Ur Williams’ paddock, Kaiwaiwai, oa Saturday last between the above named clabe, and resulted in a easy victory for Kaiwaiwai by an innings and 26 runs. Mr Feast, the Kaiwaiwai captain, won the toss, and sent the Bush team to the wickets. Owing to the splendid bowling of A. Burt they were soon disposed of lor the small score of 29 runs. Bart secured five wickets, Mason two, and J. Tocker three. J. Cross and O. Dew made five runs each, the last named making his in one hit. Extras were the largest score, being 12, owing to the bad longstopping of the Kaiwaiwai men. Kaiwaiwai now handled the willow and knocked up the fine score of 86. W. Williams 10, J. Tocker 7, S. Feast 21, J. Feast 14, were the highest scorers. J. Feast, the captain, batted very steadily for his 14, not out. Extras were few—lo byes, two wides. W. Tweed dale and W. Mitchell were very smart behind the wickets, letting very few balls by them, considering the long time Kaiwaiwai were in getting their score. Dew three wickets, D. Cross four, Beeves (captain) three, and H. Hodge were the truodlers for Morrison’s Bash. J. Cross made two fine catches in this innings. The fielding of the Morrison's Bush men was, with one or two exceptions, very good. About 1.30 pu an adjournment to Innch was made. Morrison’s Bush, requiring 67 to save a one inning’s defeat, went in, and only pat together the small score of 31. H. Hodge and Q. Dew, five each, were the principal scorers ; extras again being very large for the small score. J. Tocker and A. Bart shared bowling honors, five wickets esoh, both bowling splendidly. A. Bart is quite a youth, and in time to come will make an excellent bowler. He was dead on the wiekets nearly all (he time, being unplayable. The fielding of the Kaiwaiwai men was not very good. Coooanut was used, and played very well. II the Morrison's Bush team found the orioket of the Kaiwaiwai people rather beyond their expectations, they were very much gratified to find that their hospitality was also. When the cricketers adjourned for Innch they found under an awning a table well laid out with such good things as would only be found at a regular cricket dinner at some hotel. These good things were liberally provided by the ladies of Kaiwaiwai, many of whom also honored the cricketers by personal attention to their wants at the table. After the match was over the ladies also handed round to the cricketers, tea, cakes, Ac. For this the Morrison’s Bush cricketers wste very grateful, and both teams rendered their acknowledgements in the heartiest of cheers. Where so much trouble was taken we felt it onr duty to learn the names of these ladies, who are Mesdnmes W. 0. Williams, John Tocker, Feist, Fenwick, Smith, T. Bodge, and T. Benton, and Misses Smith, Fenwick, Williams, Singer, Feast, and Benton. Mr F. Knapp and Mr W. 0. Williams umpired lor Morrison’s Bush and Kaiwaiwai respectively. Mr T. Ward lor the visitors, and Mi Singer (or the home team, acted as scorers.
