The annual meeting of the New Zealand Bifle Association, which will take place at liabbit 1.-land during the last week in February, will be u gathering such as has not been seen in Canterbury for many a year The beat marksmen of the colony will be preaent, and it is expected that the total number of visitors iu connection with the meeting will be about 30.) At least 150 are expected from the North Island alone. There will be 24 targets, placed to the toot of the hid, at intervals of about 20ft The short range targets are to be constructed of cardboard of a special quality. Ihe others will be of canvas. All the targets will be on the revolving principle. The trench for the markers will be about seven chains long, and seven feet in depth. The camp will be laid out, either at right angles to the range, or beyond tbe GOOjds fir.ng point. There will be 100 tents lail out in the usual military styie The targets are to be connected wiih the firing points by telephone, and a new system is to be adopted in regard to disputed shots
