Cure for American Blight

To the Editor of the Standard. Sim,—Several of my friends sad other settlers seeing mod knowing that my fruit trees sre free from the American white blight, have asked me for the recipe. It is as follows Take 4lbs flour of sulphur and 21bs washing soda ; boil them together for half an hoar in a gallon of water ; whilst hot pour into it one quart of castor oil or any fish oil; then stir it well together ; when it is cool mix in about 4lbs quick lime or wood ashes sifted fine ; stir it well together, then it will be ready for use. But, before painting the tree, clear the soil away from the stock a few inches deep and alto in width, so as to be able to see the junction of the loots with the stock. Then w,th a brush paint the tree from the roots to a distance off two or three feet up the stock of the tree. Pot the mixture on pretty freely at the root of the tree. 1 painted my trees three years ago this July and 1 bare not seen a speck of blight on any of them since. I tried it on a few badly blighted crab apples in the month of September, but it w»g not a success. The trees should be fainted before the sap is up. T am, Ac., H. H. Jackson.
