Unemployed at Hokitika.
Hokitika, March 24. The unemployed are likely to prove • good deal of trouble. The whole body, 85 men, struck work, requiring piece work at a price which would give good navvies 12s per day, or else they wanted 7s a day all round. The overseer refused to accede to the request, and the men have gone to work again for a day or two to see what present price* will pay. Many are loafing about the town, and some have appeared in the Police Court for drank* ennesa.
