Wool Sales.
Melbourne, December 17,
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) held their usual weekly sale this afternoon, when an important catalogue, comprising some 5270 bales were submitted to the public. The biddings were animated in character, and prices were firmly maintained, all good wools in particular elicited spirited competition, the tone of the market being generally brisk with an upward tendency. Greasy merinos sold up to lid, while scoured wools were in better demand than at last week’s sales, and fetched as much as Is 6jd for some lots. The highest price obtained for washed wool was Is.
Christchurch, December 17
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) held their third wool sale of the season to-day, when 1000 bales were sold out of 1350 offered. Buyers were numerous, and competition was keen throughout, prices displaying a decided advance on opening rates. Greasy half bred realised up to 8(d ; crossbred, up to 74d ; merino, up to 7d ; and scoured merino up to 13* d.
