A Useless Luxury.
It seams that the colony cannot obtain a satisfactory mail service via San Francisco, for less than £50,000 a year, and that the House will not grant that sum. So much the better. Tne colony is hard up and can do very well without the luxury of a Frisco mail service. Better save the £50,000 and use it to pay old debts. The monthly mail service by the direct line of steamers will do well enough for the colony.
